MANILA, Philippines — As kids play and interact, they also at some point discover and display their artistic inclinations. It could range from performing and literary to visual arts.
These interests also preview what kids could become in their adult life.
For the fourth grader Love Kryzl, it’s singing she enjoys doing. At her young age, she has six songs under her belt.
They include Kayong Dalawa Lang, Apong Mommy, Apong Daddy, Opo, Thank You Po, Birthday Love and the recently released Heart’s in Bloom.
Information available on her Love Kryzl’s (Jorge) World YouTube channel says Opo, Thank You Po is a “simple thank-you-message” song acknowledging the blessings one has received and people who make life “lighter.”
The ditty Apong Mommy, Apong Daddy, on the other hand, is made for grandparents “whose love and care nourished us and whose hearts loved us unconditionally,” it shares.
Kayong Dalawa Lang is about “two hearts who chose each other every day,” the song description says, while its music video features newlywed couple Kiray Celis and Stephan Estopia.
Birthday Love is for everyone, the young and the young at heart, to celebrate “life and love on our birthday,” says the artist in a note about the song.
Opo, Thank You Po, Birthday Love and Heart’s in Bloom are original songs made by Love Kryzl.
“I feel the music, and what else? It’s just (I’m) enjoying (it),” said the nine-year-old of what she enjoys about singing during a group chat after the media call for the launch of Heart’s in Bloom, “but of course, I need training first before I record and I upload it, just like that. That’s how I enjoy (it).”
Although she can express herself in singing, Kryzl shared that sometimes “I can express it through my journaling.”
As for her inspiration to write songs like Heart’s in Bloom, she said her surroundings, including the people and their experiences, as one could glean by following her train of thought.
“The song is about new beginnings,” she shared about the latest single. “If you want to start fresh, just listen to the song.”
There’s a part in it that encourages one to start anew, added Kryzl, agreeing that the song gives hope.
She might be referring to these parts: “Every day’s a chance to start brand new. My heart’s in bloom, unfolding with grace, finding the light in the darkest place. Through the silence, the flowers grew. Now I am living with a heart in bloom. My heart’s in bloom.”
During the presscon, she said that the chorus of Heart’s in Bloom was her favorite part and she considered it important. The song is for people who are struggling in life.
Also part of her writing process is to show the song to her parents. For her forthcoming birthday concert, one of her dream venue choices is Mall of Asia.
“I just want to make a song for fun, and how can I say this? It feels fun. Like if I have nothing to do, like I just need to write a song,” said she in the group interview.
Asked to compare the song and her performance in it to previously recorded tunes, Kryzl said, “I just feel like I’ve improved a lot… In the music video, it ended strong. It was fun, tiring but worth it.”
As a young singer, she wants listeners to relate to her songs, wishing to touch their hearts and feelings.
Having recorded six songs and performed them on various occasions is a feat for the young creative, who feels “shocked and proud” with it.
Regarding writing Heart’s in Bloom, she said, “The tune was helped by the Purple Hearts Production. Of course, coach Rachel (Ann Pegason Alejo) helped me to, like, improve my singing. So, I could sound better during the recording.”
The voice coach was, like, directing her.
To become better in her passion and craft, she would attend training, which usually depends on her school schedule. She sings at home to easily remember the song.
Kryzl, also a choir member, shared during the presscon that as a child, she would play with her siblings, watch movies and go out to the mall.
In the group chat, Kryzl shared that she loves listening to Katseye songs, pop songs and blues.
She hopes to do a collab with popular and established artists like Gigi de Lana.
